It's a straight shoot out between Cheshire and Suffolk to secure a place in the KO Trophy quarter finals...

Cheshire and Suffolk go face-to-face at Didsbury next week for the runner up spot to Cambridgeshire in Group 3 of the KO Trophy. The winner goes through to the quarter finals in July.

Cheshire - having lost one game and won one - kept there challenge alive as they overcame Shropshire at Wem by 4 wickets.

Rob Sehmi won the toss for the visitors and put Shropshire into bat on a pitch offering something for the bowlers in overcast conditions.

With Chris Sanders partnering Mike Finan, Cheshire's opening attack made early inroads, reducing Shropshire to 3 7-3 before Graham Wagg pulled things round with a fine 47. In full flow - having riled the Cheshire attack in the earlier T20 games - Wagg looked to be lining up a big total before Jack Williams had him caught behind on 47. 

A hard-hiiting 64 from late replacement Sam Baugh ultimately ensured a total of 228 which had looked some way off at 37-3.

Sanders took 3-36 on his return, Finan's pace brought him 2-32 and Williams added 2-37.

Sehmi (52) and Sam Perry (43) have partnered well this year and an opening stand of 98 put them firmly in control. At 162-4 (Harry Dearden 31 / Will Evans 21), Cheshire were still in the driving seat. Evans - the hero of last weekend - had looked well set again until he received an unplayable one from Matty Simmonds.

From then on, things became tougher as Wagg with the ball this time, Simmonds and Sam Whitney slowed the pace. - each grabbing two wickets. Suddenly the runs dried up.

Plenty back in the hutch for Cheshire but a glimmer of hope for the hosts.

Alex Money knuckled down to finish unbeaten on 28 and before things could get too tense, enter Sanders (23*) to hit three big sixes and a four to finish things off.

 Cheshire sit in second place in the Group 3 table, one point ahead of Suffolk so next week's battle will confirm the second qualifier in the group.
