Washout at Hyde as efforts in vain

Washout at Hyde as efforts in vain

Cheshire's KO Trophy campaign suffered a setback as their second game, against Hertfordshire, fell victim to the weather.

The game had been switched to Hyde from Alderley Edge a couple of weeks ago but alas, the rain came and just three balls were possible in what would have been a truncated game.

For the record, Harry Dearden won the toss and invited Hertfordshire to bat but after several stop/go efforts, the umpires had no option but to call the game off.

This after incredible efforts by the Hyde committee to put the game on at short notice.
"We're hugely grateful to Hyde for their hard work in arranging this game," said Head of Cricket, Pete Babbage. "It's hugely disappointing for all - not least for our colleagues from Hertfordshire who travelled up on Saturday for the game."

The result leaves Group 4 wide open with Cheshire on the road next Sunday (16th) to take on Wales NC at Panteg before finishing their group games at home to Wiltshire at Didsbury a week later.
