Our Patron’s term as Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire has ended

Cheshire CCC's patron, David Briggs CVO MBE 's term as Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire has come to a close.

Appointed in 2010, David will be succeeded by Lady Alexis Redmond MBE DL (more here). He has retired on his 75th birthday.

The role is to be the Queen's representative in the County of Cheshire and the main duties of the Lord-Lieutenant include arranging visits by members of the Royal family and escorting Royal visitors. The Lieutenant also ensures the Queen's Private Office is kept informed about local issues relating to their area, particularly when a Royal visit is being planned. 

David Briggs was born in Huddersfield in 1947 and has lived in Cheshire since 1979. He was managing director and then Chairman of Dawsons Music until 2018. He and his family have lived at Dukenfield Hall in Mobberley since 1987.
