Cheshire CCC Chair, Jim Law steps down at end of season

21 Aug 2026

Cheshire CCC Chair Jim Law will step down from his role at the end of the 2026 season, bringing to a close more than two decades of service to the county.

Law’s association with Cheshire CCC began in 2006 when he joined the Club as a scorer, a role that would take him the length and breadth of the county and country ver the following 16 years.

He joined the committee in the same year and, in 2014, became Vice Chair alongside then Chair,  David Bailey and took on county media responsibilities..

At the end of the 2022 season, Law stepped away from scoring to succeed Bailey as Chair.

Reflecting on his time with the Club, Law said:

“It’s been a fabulous twenty years or so. Travelling around the county and the country has allowed me to watch some top-class cricket and, more importantly, share it with some very special people. I’ve had an absolute ball.

“The time is right now to enjoy a little time away from cricket administration and concentrate on a few other things. I’d like to say a huge thank you to everybody who has encouraged me, worked alongside me and helped our county over the years.

“I think Cheshire CCC is in a pretty decent place. We have an excellent relationship with the Cheshire Cricket Board, some tremendously exciting emerging talent and, across Cheshire, we’re fortunate to play our cricket at some of the finest club grounds in the country.

“I’m sure I’ll still enjoy the odd game of cricket — or three — but it will be nice to watch without having to worry quite so much about the increasing pressures, responsibilities and workload that come with running the game today.

“Most of all, I’ll miss the people. Cricket has introduced me to some wonderful characters and given me friendships and memories that will last a lifetime.

“I wish Cheshire CCC, and everyone associated with this great Club, every success for the future. It’s been a privilege.”
