Herefordshire v Cheshire - close day 2

25 Jul 2022

Cheshire 238 & 160-6 lead Herefordshire 257 by 131 runs

Cheshire closed an intriguing day at Brockhampton 131 runs ahead with 4 second innings wickets remaining.

Ali Chughtai (81*) and Nick Anderson 21* dug deep to lead a Cheshire recovery after a slump to 12-3 with Cheshire 19 runs behind on first innings. To make matters worse, skipper Rob Sehmi had to pass wicket-keeping duties to Sam Perry in the latter stages of the Herefordshire innings after taking one on the finger.

Then, fit enough to bat, he and Perry were dismissed in successive balls to leave the side reeling.

Earlier Herefordshire had resumed on 19-1 and went on to post 257, Matt Pardoe and Henry Cullen both making 61. Dave Wainwright took 3-68, Nick Anderson 2-22 and Aaron Soni 2-27.

Day three gets underway at 10.30am
