Herefordshire v Cheshire - close day 1

Herefordshire v Cheshire - close day 1

24 Jul 2022

Cheshire 238 (68.1 overs), Herefordshire 19-1 (3 overs)

A truncated day at Brockhampton saw Cheshire grab a late wicket as Herefordshire replied to the visitor's 238 all out.

With Chris Stenhouse pulling out due to injury on Saturday night, Aaron Soni joined Widnes' partner Ali Chugtai as a Cheshire debutant.

Light rain meant a midday start and Cheshire, having  been put into bat slumped to 13-2 with wickets in successive balls.

Chugtai was first to go follollowed by Sam Perry to a superb diving catch at gully by Ben Chapman-Lilley.

Rob Sehmi then set about rebuilding the innings with support from David Wainwright (29) and Henry Dobson (33). Andy Jackson struck 31 as Cheshire finished on a respectable 238. Young slow left armer Ollie Davidson took 4-58.

Chris Sanders struck late in the day to remove Chapman-Lilley before bad light brought an early end to the day.

Play resumes tomorrow (Monday) at 10.30am.
