Cheshire 396 & 9-0, Cornwall 350. Cheshire lead by 55 with all second innings wickets remaining
YouTube Day 2 highlights Scorecard & highlights Western Division Table Oxfordshire v Devon
Cheshire will have one eye on the weather and one on the Oxfordshire/Devon game today as they take a slender lead into the final day of their crunch match with Cornwall.
Either Cheshire, Cornwall or Devon will be relegated today - the simple maths for Cheshire being that a win will ensure survival.
That will be a far tougher task than it could have been after Cornwall's last pair added an unlikely 152 for their last wicket (a tenth wicket record for Cornwall) on day two, moving from 198-9 to 350. A spectacular 133 from Paul Smith turned the game round as he struck 10 fours and 6 sixes - this after being dropped at mid off on 11. Elis Whiteford supported well with 27*, both players ensuring Smith took the majority of the strike.
Until then, Cheshire had looked firmly in the driving seat taking wickets regularly and looking likely to accrue a 200 or so lead.
Alex Blake (35) and Will Macvicar (33) added mid order runs with Alex Bone adding 28. Mike Finan took 4-111, Chris Stenhouse 3-113 and Henry Dobson 3-31.
When bad light and rain ended play an hour or so early, Cheshire had moved on to 9 without loss to lead by 55.
An indifferent forecast doesn't help Cheshire's cause while Devon have also set up a sizeable (and increasing) lead over Oxfordshire.
Play starts half an hour earlier on day 3 at 10.30am.
