YouTube highlights Scorecard & highlights Western Division Table Oxfordshire v Devon
Cheshire ended a strong first day with Cornwall 341 runs ahead in this crunch clash at Chester Boughton Hall.
And having received his county cap before play, skipper Harry Dearden starred with a stunning 188 as his side took maximum batting points an then took three Cornwall wickets late on.
With a mixture of unavailibility and illness depleting Cheshire, Dearden was able to include left arm quickie Mike Finan, Oxton team mate Chris Stenhouse, Alex Money, Dan Newton, Will Evans and 'keeper Owen Feakes in his line-up.
Winning the toss and batting first, Cheshire found it tough to get to grips with the pace of Will Macvicar and Ben Ellis early on as they slipped to 56-3, Henry Dobson - promoted to opener - holding firm for 36.
Sam Perry (39) and Will Evans (28) boosted the innings before Dearden took charge to register his highest Championship total.
His 188 included 20 fours and 7 sixes to ensure Cheshire bagged full batting points. Dan Newton stepped up to the mark too making his highest county score, 56.
With Cheshire having to at least match Devon's result with Oxfordshire, this was a crucial innings and the day got better as Finan (1-24) and Dobson (2-11) snared three Cornwall wickets to leave Cheshire 341 runs ahead.
Day 2 gets underway from 11am.
