Cheshire now travel to face Norfolk in the KO Trophy quarter finals after a narrow DLS defeat in a rain affected game at picturesque Keswick.
The visitors struggled to post 122-9 from 32 overs before Cumbria chased down a revised 91 in a late finish.
Steady rain threatened to washout this final Group 1 match but after an early lunch, the game got underway at 2.
An intriguing on-off afternoon/evening ensued with runs and sunshine at a premium and the temperature struggling to climb above baltic.
Harry Dearden led the Cheshire side in Sam Perry's absence and there were returns for Luke Young and Xander Selby.
Cumbria included ex-Cheshire man Calum Rowe who now lives in Carlisie .
Invited to bat first, Cheshire got off to a poor start with the top order struggling against the seamer's accuracy on an akward track.
At 41-4, Will Valentine (25) and Dearden's (35) disciplined approach improved the standing, aided by Henry Dobson (15).
A final total of 122-9 however felt below par as Cheshire struggled to recover from their poor start.
With few runs to play with, it was always going to be an uphill struggle for the visitors but to their credit.
Ben Walkden (32*) and Matt Semphill (15*) eventually saw their side home after more rain fell.
Cumbria now host Group 2 runners-up Staffordshire in the quarter finals, Cheshire travel to Norfolk on 7 June.
A mention for the umpires - Steve Beswick and Jordan Montgomery-Else - who kept the game moving in difficult conditions.

Cheshire at Keswick in last group game

Cheshire travel to Keswick to take on Cumbria in their final KO Trophy Group 1 match.
Having already qualified for the quarter finals, Cheshire can potentially secure a home tie with a win.
The game starts at picturesque Keswick at 11, there's parking available, a bar and rereshments throughout the day.

It's two from two for Cheshire as Sam Perry's side followed up last week's win over Cambridgeshire with a 116 run win over Suffolk at Toft.
Perry (75) and Alex Money (89) put on 145 for the second wicket after Dan Newton had been dismissed lbw from the first ball of the game.
Two changes to the Cheshire side saw the return of Hyde's Jackson and Alderley Edge's Reddy replacing Harry Dearden and Alex Young.
Overnight rain meant a delayed start at picturesque Toft but great work from the groundstaff ensured the game got away just 90 minutes late, reduced to 46 overs a side.
And it couldn't have been a worse start for the hosts who lost in form opener Dan Newton lbw to Arafat Bhuiyan (3-55) to the very first ball of the match.
But the ship was steadied in outstanding style as Saturday centurion Alex Money (89) and Perry steered their side to 145 before Perry perished.
Last week's centurion and local boy Henry Murray hit 29 and Freddie Vaughan-Hawkins 31, but Suffolk slowed the rate until Reddy thrashed his fine 66 with six 6s and five 4s.
Cheshire's confidence in defending 338 grew immediately as Jack Beaumont was bowled by Jackson in the first over and although there were telling contributions from Kieran Pell (36) and Ollie Burle (34), Suffolk were always on the back foot.
Brooks followed up his debuting four wickets last week with another three - 3-38 - and Jackson looked like he'd never been away with 3-51.
A good day at the office for Perry's side who now face Shropshire tomorrow (Monday 4 May) at Oxton.
Shropshire will arrive in high spirtis having won a dramatic game with Cambridgeshire by one wicket off the last ball Cheshire got their 2026 KO Trophy campaign up and running in style with an emphatic 98 run over Cambridgeshire at Peterborough.
Henry Murray hit a stlish, unbeaten hundred in Cheshire's 325-7 , Dan Newton made 74 and Alex Money 55.
Sam Perry's side included two debutants .
Having been put into bat, Perry and Newton wasted little time in setting about the home attack, Newton blasting 12 fours and two 6s in his 74.
Money's 55 - following a club hundred 24 hours earlier - continued the charge and although the innings slowed up in the final overs, 325-7 felt competitive.
The Cambridgeshire reply gathered momentum early on with Henry Wilson (55) and Ben Saunders (29) putting on 74 before Brooks got the breakthrough.
It's back to back home games for Cheshire next as they face Suffolk at Toft (Sunday 3 May) and Shropshire at Oxton a day later on Bank Holiday Monday.
