EX-CHESHIRE ALL-ROUNDER SCHOFIELD SIGNS FOR SURREY

By Neil Goulding

FORMER England and Lancashire leg-spinning all-rounder Chris Schofield has signed for Surrey until the end of the season.

Schofield, who has since played Minor Counties cricket for Cheshire and Suffolk, last played county cricket in 2004 after being discarded by Lancashire.

But the 27-year-old has been signed by Surrey after injury to Ian Salisbury and the return of Anil Kumble to India.

Schofield made his debut for his new county on Sunday and took his first wicket since 2003, conceding 39 runs in an eight over spell.
