Lee Dixon steps down as Cheshire captain

By Jim Law

Lee Dixon has stepped down as Cheshire captain for the 2018 season.

After two years at the helm and solid progress on the field, Dixon makes way having led his side to second in the Western Division Unicorns Championship in 2017.

"Lee has worked hard with us since making his Cheshire debut in 2010 and brought boundless energy to the captain's role," said Cheshire CCC Chairman, David Bailey.

"His commitment to the cause has been second to none with a real understanding of the workings of the Cheshire County League. Always on the lookout for new talent, he led Cheshire to T20 victory in 2015 and then molded a three-day side that put up a real challenge last season.

"His enthusiasm has never waned and throughout his term at the top, his own form held good with many valuable runs for the County (and he was leading run scorer in the Cheshire CCL this year).

"I and the Cheshire CCC Committee would like to place on record our thanks for Lee's hard work and wish him well going forward."

A decision on replacement captain (or captains) will be made in the New Year.
