Cheshire, Cumberland, Northumberland and Staffordshire compete at Chester Boughton Hall.

Lee Dixon (shown above) leads Cheshire's T20 challenge at Chester Boughton Hall on Sunday 31 May.

Cheshire compete in the very first Dukes Unicorns T20 Tournament this weekend and skipper Lee Dixon is champing at the bit.

Dixon who successfully led Chester Boughton Hall to National T20 Club Championship glory in 2014, names a 14 strong squad for the tournament as he takes on the captain's responsibilities for the shorter format of the game.

No less that eight Chester players are included in the squad along with representation from Hyde, Toft and Bramhall.

New faces include Toft bowler Jimmy Lomas and Bramhall bat Dan Lamb whilst former captain and Hyde hard-hitting batsman James Duffy returns.

Cheshire start the ball rolling in the competition with a 10.00am start against Northumberland who they beat heavily in the 50 over KO Trophy a fortnight ago when Dixon blasted 161, a record for Cheshire in the competition.

Cumberland then play Staffordshire at 1.00pm and the final will be held at 4.00pm.

"It's a real exciting tournament", remarked Dixon, "and a great opportunity for the public to come along and see some top class cricket.

"We may have beaten Northumberland a couple of weeks ago but that will count for nothing on the day. We're really up for this and I think we've got an exciting young squad lined up for the day".

Admission at Filkins Lane is free and there are refreshments and entertainments around the ground throughout the day.
