Devon, take one - this Sunday

Devon v Cheshire, Unicorns Counties Championship - Western Division,
at Sidmouth CC, Sun-Tues, 6, 7, 8 July 2014.

Fresh from victory over Cornwall, Cheshire continue their Championship defence with the long trip down to Devon, the first of two visits to Sidmouth CC in seven days.

Again, unavailability and injuries mean selection's tough for Danny Woods who makes two changes to the side that got home by 40 runs last week.

New Brighton's Andy Clark returns along with Chester Boughton Hall leg spinner, Jack Williams. They team up with Harry Killoran, fresh from his seven wickets last time out and Rob Jones, both who debuted at Alderley Edge.

Adam Syddall and all-rounder Rick More provide the seam attack whilst Woods will also be looking to Moore to continue his scintillating form with the bat that saw him score centuries against Cornwall and in the KO Trophy against Herefordshire.

Moore received his county cap at Alderley and Woods highlighted his importance to the side. "Rick is in a rich vein of form at the moment," he said, "It was tough against Cornwall on a turning pitch but he grabbed the game by the scruff of the neck and his knock ultimately set up our win. Injuries have restricted his bowling over the last couple of games but he's back to full fitness now. And with youngsters Jones and Killoran combining with Williams and Clark, we've got probably the best spin attack in the Championship."

The modest Woods could also add his own name to that list and he'll be eager to fire up a side who've stuttered in both opening games. Despite that, Cheshire remain unbeaten and it's still early days with four to play.

"We're not looking too far ahead at the moment," continued Woods, "but rest assured, we worked hard last year to win the title and we're scrap all the way to keep it."

After two games, Cheshire sit fourth in the table, 17 points behind leaders Wiltshire:
