Rain wins the day but Cheshire win Group 3

K.O. Quarter Final set up at Chester

Cheshire topped Group 3 of the Unicorns KO Trophy 'mini league' after a washout against Lincolnshire at Bramhall.

With only 2.4 overs possible in their final match, the one point secured quarter final showdown with Herefordshire at Chester Boughton Hall on 15 June.

With Cumberland and Shropshire suffering a similar wet fate, Cumberland ended as group runners-up and will travel to Oxfordshire.

The weather was disappointing for the Bramhall Club who acted as fine hosts and disappointing too for the locals, set to turn up in numbers.

As it was, play eventually started in a game reduced to 30 overs per side just on three o'clock. Cheshire won the toss and put the visitors into bat and after Adam Syddall grabbed a quick wicket, the heavens opened to flood the ground.

This was Cheshire's second wash-out, following their first match with Northumberland. Sandwiched in between however were fine wins over Cumberland and Shropshire so Cheshire move to the quarter finals unbeaten.

Before the Herefordshire one-dayer, Cheshire also start the defence of their three day Championship crown, again playing Herefordshire, away at Colwall on June 8,9,10.
