Dan honoured in runs across the County

What a fitting tribute for Cheshire star Danny Woods as hundreds ran in his honour across Cheshire and beyond.

Danny - one of Cheshire's greatest players - sadly lost his battle with cancer earlier this year. The 'Run for Dan, established by Woods' family with the help of close friend Lee Dixon, saw cricketers past and present run, walk and cycle 5k, all earning valuable funds for the Magnolia Centre in York who cared for Danny so well.

There were messages of support from many of Woods' Cheshire colleagues and friends across the County League as well as from York CCC where Danny ended his playing career.

A great effort from Unicorns' champions Berkshire CCC too, showing just how far Danny's reputation spread. Hyde and Cheshire team mate Danny Berry saluted from Australia while his ex-Hyde team mates also turned out in style. Dixon - who brilliantly championed local activity - orchestrated a 'social distance run' through Chester City Centre.

Social media was awash with spirited efforts from far and wide. Please check our Twitter and Facebook accounts to see some great 'new and old' faces.

As at 21 April the total was 19,000 - with the original aim to make 5,000.
